About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities: UCGPC Bylaws §2.3
Develop and maintain relationships with national, statewide and system-specific organizations that advocate for shared priorities.
Manage and maintain organization website, social media, event notifications, and other means of communication (including listservs).
Develop strategies to engage and improve organizational communication with our constituents.
Attend all board meetings, retreats and conference.
Reports to the UCGPC Vice Chair. Work complements that of the Organizing Director.

Term Duration:
Sept 1, 2022 to Sept 30, 2023

Compensation:
$400.00/mo. ($5,200 total), travel reimbursed.

Estimated Workload:
Approximately 5-10 hours per week, may vary.



Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled student at a UC graduate or professional degree program for entire term.

Recommended Prior Experience:

  • Engagement with multiple UC campus-based graduate and/or professional student interest/activist groups.

  • Development and implementation of clear and focused communications strategy, particularly for an academic audience.

  • Management of social media platforms and websites.

  • Generation of content using different forms of media.

  • Successful targeting of hard-to-reach audiences and building sustained engagement, particularly with communities that are not well represented in higher education or political advocacy.

Recommended Skills:

  • Video and image creating applications.

  • Fluency in the major social media platforms.

  • Understanding of public relations and marketing principles.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
